Using An FTP Client
This instruction sheet will guide you through how to connect your FTP client to the Dire Solutions server.
**NOTE: Every FTP client is different and these settings will not work in all of them. However the majority of the standard FTP Client applications will work with these settings.
The favored FTP Client used by Dire Solutions is FileZilla (Windows, Mac, Linux), an open source software distributed free of charge under the terms of the GNU General Public License. You may download it via their website: http://www.filezilla-project.org.
The following steps will guide you through how to use FileZilla to connect to the Dire Solutions server your FTP account. These instructions assume that you have already installed FileZilla on your computer successfully and already have it open.
- Take note of the following window spaces in FileZilla:

- Next you need to setup the connection between your FTP Client and the web server. To do this click on the far left icon in the Toolbar (looks like 2 computers and a globe) or go to File > Site Manager.
- Click on "New Site" to create the new connection. Give the site a name that will remind you what that connection is for. Then enter in the information listed at the bottom of this document.
- After you have entered in all of those criteria, click connect to make sure all of the settings were entered properly. If you are unable to connect and can't figure out why, please go to http://support.diresolutions.com to submit a support ticket. Remote assistance is offered at an hourly rate, which will allow our technicians to connect directly to your computer and setup the connection for you.
- Once you are connected you may transfer files from your local computer to your web server account. Do this by clicking and dragging files frm the "Local File Navigation" window to the "Web Server File Navigation" window. If your file is being transferred or has been transferred, it will appear in the "File Transfer Status" window under one of the three tabs at the bottom of that window. Those 3 tabs are "Queued files," "Failed Transfers," and "Successful Transfers."
Here are the connection settings that will be used for every FTP Client:
- Host: Your Domain without www at the beginning (ie. DireSolutions.com)
- Port: 21
- Server Type: FTP
- Logontype: Normal
- Username: username provided to you in a secure document
- Password: password provided to you in a secure document
If you require further assistance, please contact our support team by going to http://support.diresolutions.com and submitting a new support ticket.
